What does “conscious movement” in the woodstocking® training system mean?

woodstocking® training is about developing awareness for movement. The thoughts are focused on the perception of the body, on the breath and on the areas that move. Thus the thoughts are first captured, directed to oneself and calmed down, in order to then be aligned with positive sentences. Ultimately, it is about bringing thoughts, feelings and movement into harmony. This creates coherence in the organism, a feeling of having arrived at oneself and being in good hands in the world.

Our experiences and beliefs influence our movements.

Nerve impulses from the sensory organs, muscles and organs are processed in the brain. Control signals are sent from the brain to the rest of the body to perform movements, speak or stand still. Emotions play an important role in this complex process. They result from experiences that we have made at some point in our lives in movement, touching, eating or accidents.

Unfortunately, the body stores the negative, limiting experiences rather than the positive ones. Why is that?

Our sensory system is very sensitive to the detection of threatening signals such as pain. These signals create fear and the entire situation is then stored by the brain as “danger”. The brain prefers to filter out from all stimuli those that it already knows and can associate with anxiety in order to “attack or run away” the muscles very quickly in similar situations. (fight or flight) to command A survival instinct that we can only influence with our consciousness. If we can convince the brain that there is really no danger, it can reprogram itself and we can live more relaxed. Nowadays the “fight or flight” reaction does not take place to the full extent anymore: Modern man remains seated and the tension that arises in such situations remains in the fascial system (connective tissue and tendons) of the body. Over time, such tensions can restrict movement and even impair organ function.

An example: The arm that was too tightly grasped in a quarrel and hurt still tightens in every quarrel. This imperceptibly restricts mobility over time. A shoulder or wrist problem arises without a recognisable cause, because the original dispute dates back a long time.

What can woodstocking® change?

First of all, it is helpful to perceive the tensions in the body at the moment in which they arise. With a trained body awareness it is possible to feel whether the situation is stressing me or not. With the woodstocking® exercise sequence I can then pick up on this situation and defuse it. The tension in the fasciae is dissolved by the exercises in combination with the focus on positive thoughts and the attunement to good feelings. So I can reprogram myself and remain more relaxed in such situations in the future.

The greatest stress today comes from conversations and verbal arguments that are not really life-threatening: fight or flight is not life-threatening and not necessary. The woodstocking® training helps your organism to understand this and to stay relaxed.
